Virginia is one of the states to require, as part of the court-referred mediator certification process, both a mentored apprenticeship and classroom training. During this mentorship, the mentee observes and conducts mediation sessions under the guidance of certified mentor mediators. Our organization is working closely with our partners at the Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church and Loudoun General District Courts to make mediation services accessible and available.

Prerequisites for GDC Mentorship Cohort
- Completion of OES-DRS Certified 20-Hour Mediation Basic Training
- Satisfied observation requirement by either (a) observation training or (b) 2 qualifying mentored observations by the start of co-mediation’s.
