NORTHERN VIRGINIA’S LEADING CONFLICT RESOLUTION CENTER WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The NVMS Conflict Resolution Center (NVMS) welcomes Arleen Ramirez Borysiewicz as its new Executive Director, effective July 15th. In this role, Borysiewicz will work closely with the Board of Directors to carry out NVMS’ mission of providing mediation and conflict resolution services, training and certification to constructively and adeptly address conflicts.
“We are thrilled to bring Arleen on board to lead NVMS as we step into our third decade of service,” says Randy Jones Toll, NVMS Board president. “She intuitively understands the opportunities ahead as we seek to expand our services and reach. Arleen has the experience, insight and critical skills in nonprofit management, as well as in fundraising, community building and leadership, all of which will serve our organization well.”
Borysiewicz has 25+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector, both in volunteer and paid positions. Her prior work includes serving as director of development and communications at United Community, a direct service agency supporting low-income families in Alexandria, Virginia. Before that, she was the primary fundraising officer at Ayuda, a Washington, D.C.-based legal immigration services nonprofit, and the vice president for external affairs at The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars, also based in Washington, D.C. “NVMS leads the Northern Virginia area in providing sought-after mediation and conflict resolution services and programs,” Borysiewicz says. “Families, children, at-risk youth, underserved and underrepresented individuals as well as many businesses, organizations and governmental entities rely on NVMS to help them to understand, manage and resolve conflict. I’m excited to take on this role and work with the Board, staff and mediator practitioners to promote the success of NVMS, expand its training, programs and services and help community members manage conflict in ways that can lead to the best possible outcomes. Conflict that is resolved in a collaborative way is a win-win for all parties.”
