Bringing Community Together, With Much Appreciation

More than 60 community members attended the Bridging Communities Fall Picnic on September 21, 2023 at the Van Dyck Park in Fairfax City – bringing together mediators, conflict management trainers, restorative justice facilitators, students, elected leaders, and community residents. The brief program included City of Fairfax Mayor Catherine Read, Virginia House Delegate Paul Krizek, and Fairfax County Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano.

NVMS Conflict Resolution Center was also delighted to recognize Wind Viento, Queenie Cox, and Sharon Holland for completing the community education training and partnering with NVMS to provide local residents training in conflict management.

NVMS also proudly presented the Richard Bernhart Lifetime Achievement Award to Geoff Drucker. Geoff presided the NVMS Board of Directors as president during the heart of the pandemic. His stalwart leadership provided the backbone for the organization’s 2022-2026 strategic plan.

“NVMS is nearing its 35 years of service and we couldn’t do this community and public service without the support of all our practitioners,” said Arleen Borysiewicz, executive director.
